Seating
The carols are all under the cover of a huge marquee so inclement weather will not interfere with the performance. The whole idea is for people to sit on the grass(or on rugs & mats) however there will be a reasonable number of chairs provided for the elderly, disabled & nursing mums. We respectfully request that younger people who can sit on the grass do so & allow those who can't, to use the chairs & enjoy the evening. Bringing backrests is fine but we do also respectfully request that people keep strollers & anything which will block the view, to the sides of green just inside the row of chairs so that everyone sitting on the grass can have a clear line of sight to the stage. Many thanks for your understanding on this.
Carols Shuttle Bus
Parking & getting to the carols will not be a problem. There is quite a bit of parking in the shopping centre car park(adjacent to the Village Green) & around the immediate area. However this year, in addition, the 43 seat Carols Shuttle Bus will drive around the area from 4pm until the end of the performance and pick up & drop off anyone who would like a lift. The bus will travel mainly in a loop from the carols (on Meagher Avenue) to Broome Street & down to the Maroubra Beach car park where it will stop and wait for a few minutes. It will then travel along Fitzgerald Avenue & turn left onto Malabar Road, where it will also stop for a few minutes, then left again into Meagher Avenue. It will, if required, do a couple of runs up Malabar Road to the roundabout at Beauchamp Road & come back down Malabar Road to Meagher Avenue.
It will also do pickups at Maroubra Junction as below:
5pm & 6pm Maroubra Road-outside the Westpac Bank
5.10pm & 6.10pm Anzac Parade-outside the Maroubra RSL Club.
So you can park at Maroubra Beach car park or on Malabar Road, Fitzgerald Avenue or Broome Street(between Meagher Avenue & Fitzgerald Avenue) and catch the shuttle to the carols.
The bus will run from 4pm until approximately 10pm to ensure that everyone gets back to their vehicles or back home. If you are walking to the carols & see the bus approaching please feel free to flag it down. The driver will stop as close to you as possible. Please understand that the driver can only stop where it is safe to do so.
