This is a relaxed, friendly, annual community event which is part of the culture of South Maroubra.
A huge marquee covers the South Maroubra Village Green so we don't have to worry about the weather and everyone can sit on the grass under cover.
The amusements and Lions club of Maroubra bar-b-q will begin at 4pm.
Funds raised from the barbee & the amusements will support Alzheimer's research at POW Hospital & Spinal Injuries Australia.
Funds from the sale of candles will go towards the AHEPA organisation's work to feed Sydney's needy.
The on - stage entertainment will start at 4.30pm and Dora will first appear around 4.45pm.
Parking & Courtesy Bus
There is parking at the shopping centre and in the nearby streets, in particular Malabar Road.
However you can also park at Maroubra Beach Car Park on the corner of Fitzgerald Avenue and Marine Parade.
Our courtesy bus will be there every 15 minutes to take you to the show. It will do loops around the Shopping Village all evening, as seen on the map, and each loop it will stop in Meagher Avenue to drop you off and take you back to your car when you wish.
It will also stop at various spots along the route to take people to the show so please hail it down if you would like a lift.
The driver can of course only stop where it is safe to do so but he will do the best for you that he can.
The bus will run all evening until well after the show.
Seating.
Most people sit on the grass but there are a limited amount of chairs available for the elderly, disabled, expectant &nursing mothers.
The chairs are deliberately placed along the sides of the marquee and must not be moved from where they are. The centre section of the tent is kept clear of chairs.
Should you be unable to sit on the grass and wish to reserve a seat could you please phone 02 9311 0088.
Your name will then be written on your seat but we ask that you come nice and early as it is difficult to keep seats after about 5.30pm
Strollers & Back Rests
You are most welcome to bring them but we respectfully request that you position them towards the sides of the marquee so they do not block the view of other people sitting behind you, We do our best to maintain a clear line of site through the middle section.Your understanding on this will be sincerely appreciated.
Toilets
There will be portable toilets, including a disabled toilet, behind the marquee in the amusements area. In addition there are toilets on the first floor of the Shopping Village and in the motel building adjacent to the Village.
Management
Randwick SES officers will manage traffic on the night and the Maroubra Police and professional security officers will be there to check that everything runs smoothly.
Walsh's Christmas Cruise Competition
The Big Draw for the fabulous 7 Day Christmas Pacific Cruise will take place during the show finale.
Free tickets in the competition can be obtained by shopping at Walsh's right up until 30 minutes before the draw.
During the evening you can take your lucky tickets into the pharmacy to see if you have won one of the weekly draws for a $200 shopping voucher.
The winning numbers are posted up in Walsh's.
